On the morning of July 20, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of National Defense, led a delegation of the Ministry of National Defense to inspect the field at Gia Lam Airport (Hanoi) to prepare for the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024.
Also attending the inspection were Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; and leaders and commanders of functional agencies of the Ministry of National Defense.

The delegation inspected the area where activities within the framework of the exhibition are planned to be held at Gia Lam airport; attended a meeting to listen to a report on the development of the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition Project 2024.

It is expected that the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 will be held in December 2024, in conjunction with the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army. The activities at the upcoming exhibition will continue the program at the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2022 such as: Welcome flight of the air force; martial arts performance of special forces; display of weapons and technical equipment researched and produced by the Vietnamese defense industry, along with weapons from the world's leading defense industry corporations; seminars, bilateral contacts....

After directly inspecting and listening to reports from relevant agencies and units, giving instructions at the inspection session, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien said that for the second time of organization, the units must be determined to make efforts to complete all preparations for the exhibition better than the first time.
Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien noted that the plan to implement this exhibition must draw on the experience from the first time, on the basis of promoting the strengths that have been achieved and overcoming the limitations, and at the same time need to learn how to organize exhibitions in other countries. The exhibition will be a highlight to promote and propagate the capacity, technological potential, weapons and equipment produced by the Vietnamese defense industry to international friends and the people at home, at the same time an opportunity to expand international cooperation, foreign relations in defense, and build trust between Vietnam and countries around the world.

In its first edition, the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2022 attracted the participation of more than 170 defense industry enterprises from 31 countries and territories. The 2024 exhibition is expected to be larger in scale with about 250 booths from 50 countries around the world. Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien emphasized the need to increase the proportion of foreign weapons, new weapons, and high-tech weapons at the exhibition booths.
In addition, the Deputy Minister of National Defense also noted the need to promote sideline activities of the exhibition. In addition to displaying and promoting weapons, there should be more cultural, artistic, sports and exchange activities between forces, thereby introducing to international friends the image of the country, culture and people of Vietnam.
