On April 1, in Hanoi, the Engineering Corps organized an inspection of the capacity of consulting, surveying, supervising and implementing mine and explosive clearance activities of the Defense Industry Economic and Technical Corporation (GAET).
Colonel Ha Huy Khanh, Deputy Commander of the Engineering Corps, chaired the inspection. Also attending were leaders and commanders of a number of functional agencies of the Ministry of National Defense, the Engineering Corps and GAET Corporation.
The subjects of the inspection are officers, employees, and technicians of the Mine Clearance Center, under the GAET Corporation. The inspection contents include: Organization of the force participating in mine and explosive clearance; detection vehicles, motorbikes, and equipment serving the work of mine and explosive clearance; professional qualifications of team leaders, supervisors, technicians, and the mine and explosive clearance practice team; technical procedures for detecting and handling mines and explosives; skills in using mine and explosive detection equipment and accompanying equipment; ways to identify and handle bombs and bullets after detection; project documents for mine and explosive clearance and technical construction plans; practice of mine and explosive clearance under water and on land, etc.
Concluding the inspection, Colonel Ha Huy Khanh praised GAET Corporation for strictly implementing the regulations of the Ministry of National Defense on the task of clearing mines and explosives; paying attention to training, fostering and coaching staff and technicians; investing in purchasing machinery and equipment for mine and explosive clearance activities. At the same time, he requested GAET Corporation to actively overcome the shortcomings and limitations pointed out by the inspection team and report the results to the Engineering Corps. For the agencies of the Engineering Corps, direct and guide GAET Corporation to complete the dossier and appraise the dossier to submit to the Chief of the Engineering Corps to report to the Ministry of National Defense to issue and renew the certificate of capacity for consulting, surveying, supervising and constructing mine and explosive clearance for 15 construction teams of the Corporation.
It is known that the Mine Clearance Center under GAET Corporation was established in 2019, currently has 15 teams, with hundreds of officers, employees, and technicians who are well-trained and certified in surveying, supervising, and performing mine and explosive clearance. Since its establishment, the Center has conducted mine and explosive clearance operations left over from the war in many areas across the country, including the discovery, recovery, and safe disposal of nearly 2 tons of mines and explosives of all kinds, restoring peace to more than 30,000 hectares of land, which has been highly appreciated by investors and local government leaders.
