The opening ceremony of the celebration was an elaborately staged art program with the theme: "Bright Vietnam" hosted by the Ho Chi Minh City Organizing Committee for Celebrating Major Holidays, in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of National Defense, and the Ministry of Public Security.
The program includes a drum performance with the theme: "The Epic of Victory", performed by 1,000 actors who are students of the Drum Art Troupe of the People's Police Academy - Ministry of Public Security; an art formation with the theme: "The Country is Full of Joy" performed by artists and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army; and many art performances recreating the heroic struggle for independence, construction and development of the country.
The celebration began with a flag-raising ceremony amid the roar of 21 cannon shots by the artillery team at Bach Dang Wharf, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.
General Secretary To Lam delivered a speech commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.
Next were speeches from veterans and representatives of the young generation of Vietnam.
The parade program, chaired by the Ministry of National Defense, includes a performance by helicopters and fighter jets; a parade program of 4 Honorary Units, 36 parade units of the Army and Police, 12 parade units and parade units of the armies of China, Laos and Cambodia. In particular, 350 delegates who are Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, Heroes of Labor, and typical historical witnesses will participate in the parade on double-decker buses.
On this occasion, in order to recognize the outstanding achievements of the Party Committee, government and people of Ho Chi Minh City, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland, the Party and State decided to confer the title of Hero of Labor to the Party Committee, government and people of Ho Chi Minh City.
The program was broadcast live on VTV1 - Vietnam Television, Ho Chi Minh City Television and local radio and television stations. Ho Chi Minh City installed 20 large LED screens on central streets, serving residents and tourists, broadcasting live the celebration activities.
There were more than 700 reporters from 106 domestic press agencies and 169 foreign reporters from 58 foreign press agencies attending the ceremony.
The parade began with a performance by a helicopter squadron carrying the Party flag, the national flag, and a fighter jet squadron of the Vietnam People's Army in the sky above central Ho Chi Minh City.
The national emblem is placed on the symbol of the Lac bird, representing the will and aspiration of the Vietnamese people. 54 talented men and women, symbolizing the strong solidarity of 54 ethnic groups - the invincible strength forged through thousands of years of nation building and defense, crystallized into the miraculous strength of our army and people that created the Great Victory in the Spring of 1975.
Promoting glorious traditions, the Vietnamese ethnic community is joining hands, unanimously, and steadfastly walking on the path chosen by the Party, Uncle Ho and our people.
The fluttering Party and national flags symbolize the ideals and belief in victory; the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam; the strength of the great national unity bloc, inspired and nurtured by history, burning today and shining tomorrow.
That is the source and strength for our entire Party, people and army to successfully carry out the cause of building and firmly defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.
President Ho Chi Minh, the genius leader, founder, leader and trainer of our Party, Hero of national liberation, World cultural celebrity, Beloved Father of the People's Armed Forces. During the resistance war against the US to save the country, the Air Defense - Air Force defeated the enemy's "super flying fortresses", "ghosts", "thunder gods", "heavenly bandits"; shot down 2,635 aircraft; including 64 B.52s; created the great victory "Hanoi - Dien Bien Phu in the air" - a symbol of the heroic spirit and intellectual height of Vietnam; built the tradition of "limitless loyalty, resolute attack, solidarity and cooperation, collective achievements". With outstanding achievements, all 4 forces: Air Force, Missile, Anti-aircraft Artillery, Radar were awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces.
During the resistance war against the US to save the country, tens of thousands of Border Guard officers and soldiers supported the battlefield, built the armed security force in the South, protected the Central Bureau and joined the troops in liberating Saigon in the Spring of 1975.
As a force performing tasks on the border, in ethnic minority areas, remote and extremely difficult areas. But with the motto "The station is home, the border is the homeland, the ethnic people are blood brothers," over the past 66 years, the Border Guard has always been loyal to the Party, devoted to the people; firmly managing and protecting the territorial sovereignty and national border security; deserving to be the twice-Heroic People's Armed Forces.

During the resistance war against the US to save the country, the Logistics and Engineering sector continuously grew and developed; promptly ensured logistics materials, weapons, and technical equipment for each campaign and each battlefield direction; ensured the 5 wings of the army quickly entered Saigon, liberated the South, and unified the country.

After 80 years of building, fighting and growing, the Signal Corps has achieved many glorious achievements; being brave, proactive, creative, ensuring "Timely - Accurate - Confidential - Safe" communications.
At exactly 11:30 a.m. on April 30, 1975, the Radio Relay Station located on the roof of the Independence Palace transmitted a telegram reporting to the Politburo: "The Ho Chi Minh Campaign was a complete victory". Promoting the tradition of the Heroic Corps, the Signal Corps is determined to continue its feats and build a modern Information Force.
Together with the team of military doctors, female military medical officers are always present in difficult and arduous places; both fighting and serving in combat, sacrificing themselves to care for and protect the health of soldiers and people, contributing to enhancing the overall strength of the Army.

Formed and developed from the resistance wars against foreign invaders, protecting the Fatherland; in the resistance war against the US to save the country, Electronic Warfare contributed significantly to the historic victory of Hanoi - Dien Bien Phu in the air and the Spring General Offensive and Uprising in 1975.
In the current period, Electronic Warfare is advancing straight to modernity, building a "skillful, compact, strong" force, ready to fight to firmly protect key targets and important events of the Party, State and Army.

As an important assault force of the Vietnam People's Army. During the resistance wars against invasion, the People's Security Forces always raised their vigilance, mobilized the people's strength, fought to defeat all plots and intelligence, espionage, and reactionary activities, and firmly protected national security.

During the resistance wars against invaders, the Traffic Police Team, the Truck Inspection Police Team, the Patrol Control Team... were the predecessors of the Traffic Police that ensured the safety of important transportation routes, transported goods, food, weapons, ammunition, protected military operations and garrisons, and made an important contribution to the complete liberation of the South and the reunification of the country.
Today, Traffic Police are still present day and night on key routes and areas to ensure traffic order and safety, for the peaceful and happy life of the people.
The People's Public Security Air Force was established to carry out the task of managing and operating flight operations to serve training and crime prevention and control, participating in search and rescue, disaster prevention and response, natural disasters and other tasks.
As a newly established unit, officers and soldiers of the People's Public Security Air Force are working hard day and night to train, overcome hardships and difficulties to mature and develop strongly, ensuring high combat readiness, quick mobility, and determination to complete all assigned tasks.

Born when the resistance war against America was at its fiercest stage, the Mobile Police has gone through more than 50 years of building, fighting and developing.
As a concentrated combat force, the Mobile Police is always present at complex security and order points; coordinates with other forces to promptly resolve situations; absolutely protects the safety of important political, economic and social targets and events; deserves to be the "iron fist" of the People's Public Security force; and is honored to be twice awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the State.
Overcoming difficulties and hardships, female Special Police officers always strive to train, strive and excellently complete all assigned tasks, worthy of being the resilient and strong "steel roses" of the People's Police force.
Upholding the tradition of “Forgetting oneself for the country, serving the people”, female Special Police officers are always determined to improve the quality of training, qualifications and combat capabilities, ready to receive and excellently complete assigned tasks in all situations.
The combat reserve mobile police have the task of training, being ready to fight, quickly moving, participating in resolving and handling complex situations regarding security and order, protecting political, economic and cultural events; rescuing and other tasks.
As a newly established force, officers and soldiers of the Mobile Police Reserve are always enthusiastic about training and learning knowledge, techniques and tactics; always proactive and ready to participate in resolving complex situations, not being passive or surprised about security and order.
Strengthened from the civil defense force, part-time commune police, militia and exemplary citizens; after more than a year of operation, the force participating in protecting security and order at the grassroots level has gradually affirmed its role as the "extended arm" of the People's Public Security force; contributed to bringing about positive changes in ensuring security and order at the grassroots level; affirmed the correctness of the policy of building and strongly promoting the "people's hearts" in the cause of protecting security and order.
Although it has only been established for 5 years, the Cavalry Mobile Police force has always been proactive in overcoming difficulties, striving to grow quickly. The Cavalry Mobile Police has participated in and successfully completed many patrol and parade missions in cities, tourist attractions, important national events and international events. The appearance of the Vietnam Cavalry Mobile Police has created a friendly and peaceful feeling, leaving many good impressions in the hearts of the people and international friends.
The bright and brilliant flags represent the pride and self-respect of the Vietnamese people. Under the glorious flag, our entire Party, people and army united closely, fought bravely and won great victories in the resistance wars to liberate the nation and protect the Fatherland, the culmination of which was the great victory in the spring of 1975, bringing the country together.

With the spirit of “Rivers are battlefields, bridges and ferries are weapons, and youth volunteers are soldiers,” the Youth Volunteers are a force that serves to carry ammunition, transport food, clear roads, and care for wounded soldiers during the resistance war.
After the liberation day, the former Youth Volunteers continued to participate in the reconstruction of the City, overcoming the consequences of war; serving in combat and fighting, protecting the southwestern border of the Fatherland; actively participating in the task of socio-economic development, building the City. The Youth Volunteers were honored to be awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and the State, twice the title of Hero of Labor in the renovation period.
As one of the basic productive forces, the Vietnamese peasant class always has a "steady hand on the plow, a good hand on the gun", implements "not a pound of rice is missing, not a soldier is missing", steadfastly "not an inch gone, not a millimeter left" to destroy the enemy's "strategic hamlets"; making great contributions to the victory of the resistance war against the US to save the country.

These are collectives and individuals with especially outstanding achievements in the General Offensive and Uprising in the Spring of 1975, with feats forever engraved, the peak of which was the historic Ho Chi Minh campaign, bringing our nation's long-term struggle to final victory.
At 11:30 a.m. on April 30, 1975, the liberation flag flew on the roof of the Independence Palace, ending the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, completely liberating the South and unifying the country. So that today Vietnam can proudly stand shoulder to shoulder with friends around the world.
The Vietnamese intellectual community has overcome difficulties, pioneered in building the knowledge and scientific foundation for the country, and made great contributions in the resistance wars.

Over a century of formation and development, the Vietnamese working class has always been the core force in building and developing the country. From factories, enterprises to construction sites, from farms to high-tech zones, the working class has constantly grown, innovated, created, and strived to master science and technology.
Under the Party's banner, the Vietnamese working class continues to affirm its pioneering role in the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country, entering a new era with the nation.
After nearly 40 years of innovation, the Vietnamese Entrepreneurs have grown steadily, becoming the backbone of the country's industrialization and modernization. With their pioneering spirit and the will to dare to think and dare to do, they are a testament to the strength of Vietnam's aspirations, creating a solid economic foundation. Entering a new era, today's Entrepreneurs are constantly learning and innovating, aspiring to bring sustainable development to the Vietnamese economy.
Currently, there are millions of Vietnamese people living, studying and working in 130 countries and territories. Over the years, overseas Vietnamese have actively contributed to the country's development achievements, are an inseparable part of the Vietnamese ethnic community and are increasingly growing, playing a high role and prestige in the host countries' societies, always preserving and promoting traditional cultural identity and deeply integrating in the political, economic and social fields, being an important bridge between Vietnam and friends around the world.
Vietnamese women always uphold the noble qualities of “Heroic, indomitable, loyal, and courageous”, “when the enemy comes, women will fight”. During the resistance wars, millions of Vietnamese women bravely participated in the fight, served in the fight, and built a strong rear.
In peacetime, Vietnamese women continue to promote the revolutionary tradition, solidarity, creativity, integration, development, building Vietnamese women in the new era; affirming their role and position in social fields; building prosperous and happy families and contributing to the successful implementation of the cause of building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.
Vietnamese children and youth, the future buds of the country, are the core force in the cause of building, protecting and developing the country.
Through historical periods, the young generation of Vietnam has always promoted national traditions, worthy of being the generation that continues the revolutionary cause of the Party, Uncle Ho and previous generations.
In the era of strong growth of the whole nation, Vietnamese youth nurture aspirations, uphold the pioneering spirit, unite and affirm their steadfastness, constantly innovate and create to build a prosperous and happy Vietnam.
Many forms of Vietnamese culture have been recognized by UNESCO as world cultural heritage. To preserve traditional cultural values and develop local strengths, Ho Chi Minh City is striving to soon become a member of the “UNESCO Creative Cities Network” on Cinema, a regional cultural and media industry center, creating breakthrough socio-economic developments for the country.
Implementing the movement "All people practice physical training following the example of great Uncle Ho", in recent times, the physical training and sports movement in Ho Chi Minh City has developed widely, always achieving high achievements in Southeast Asia, Asia and the world; creating an important premise to implement the Strategy for developing physical training and sports in Vietnam to 2030, with a vision to 2045; building a sustainable and professional physical training and sports foundation; contributing to improving the health, stature and physical strength of Vietnamese people in the new era.
